National and International Missions
First Baptist Church is a strong supporter of the work of the National and International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches in the U.S.A.
National Ministries develops programs for evangelism, discipleship training, church growth and renewal, social justice and facility planning. Staffing for new church development efforts of American Baptist Churches is provided by National Ministries, which also works to develop leadership for new churches. National Ministries responds to a wide variety of human needs through Christian centers, homes and hospitals, chaplaincy services, refugee resettlement, and support for ethnic minorities.
International Ministries is involved in overseas mission work in dozens of countries in Asia, Africa, Central and South America and Europe. International Ministries relates to more than 500 educational institutions and 125 hospitals and medical facilities. International Ministries missionaries work in partnership with some 15,000 trained national workers, who serve about 22,000 churches and nearly 3,000,000 baptized members.
Members of First Baptist can be involved personally in national and international missions opportunities through the Volunteer in Mission program and hands-on mission trips sponsored by the American Baptist Churches.
